Arts and Crafts with With Tjhoko Paint
Give kids a paintbrush and a box of watercolors, and they can stay busy for hours all on their own. But, did you know that as an adult you can have just as much fun with a paintbrush and plenty of other ways in your own backyard? Art activities are a great way to relieve stress and combat negative moods — even if you’re not the greatest artist in the room. So whether you’re a beginner or an expert crafter, you’ll feel a sense of accomplishment and joy once you’re able to hold your masterpiece in hand and admire the hard work that went into it.
There are many ways to get crafty as an adult, you can paint with bubbles, use salt for texture, craft stick projects, simple stamped art, and more. When it comes to painting, you will get the benefits of self-expression, focus and patience as you put your energy into what’s in front of you and increased concentration.
Here’s a cool way to strike up a conversation with your guests or spend quality time with your family after buying paint colors that pair with your home style: DIY Painted Wine Bottles.
These DIY Painted Wine Bottles will add color, function, and style to your home and entertaining endeavors. You will need only a few clean and empty wine bottles for this craft. Speaking of wine, this would be a fun craft project for a craft and wine party! So, don’t toss your empty wine bottles! Not when you can turn them into lavish home decor with a little craft paint.
Supplies
Empty and clean wine bottles
Scrap cardboard or surface for spray paint
White spray paint
Three colors of acrylic craft paint or chalk paint
Paint brush
Instructions
Prepare a working area for your project outdoors or in a well ventilated area. Begin by spray painting the wine bottles white, starting with a thin layer.
After the wine bottles have been painted white, allow them to air dry. Then repeat 2-3 times, changing your angle frequently, until the bottles are completely covered. Let the spray paint dry again.
Grab your Tjhoko colored paint, feel free to choose whatever colors you like, suit your style or that work with your home décor. Keep in mind that these painted bottles will make for nice vases for fresh flowers.
It’s time to have fun with the paint! Paint each bottle by beginning at the neck of the bottle and painting around the top. Use your creativity and style, add vertical brush strokes around the neck to add personality and splendor.
Once you’ve painted the neck of the bottle, move on to paint the base of the bottle. Paint with horizontal strokes around the base of the bottle, then add vertical strokes as high up the side of the bottle as you like. Put the bottles aside and let dry completely.
Add another light layer of paint for best coverage and repeat with two more bottles.
IMPORTANT: When you paint all the way around, be very, very careful where you hold the bottle to avoid ending up with paint on your hands or leaving hand handprints on the bottle.
TIP: You can also choose to spray paint the bottles beforehand, and get everyone in the house involved by letting them paint their wine bottles however they wish. If you’re doing this craft with guests, you can let everyone go home with an upcycled wine bottle vase that they can show off to their other friends and keep as a memory of time spent together. So fun!
